Children’s Heaven operates 5 days a week to provide clothing, medication, life skills, school supplies, and more. Their support center is in Ethiopia while their administrative office is in the United States.

The non-profit maintains operations through the generosity of donors who often sponsor individual children.

Here you can watch a video about the girls while getting a glimpse of the activities available to them. This video was created by a 3rd party in an impoverished part of Aftrica, so please excuse the poorer quality.

Poor Branding

Off-target and aesthetically unappealing, their brand needed some serious help if they were going to grab the attention of truly impactful donors.

This is a sample of some of their previous branding:

Brand Refresh

Instilled branding to properly reflect the age and gender of the children they aid, capture the attention of the donor, and send the message of a professional organization through a dramatic shift to their logo, colors, fonts, and imagery.

This refresh included the creation of a mini branding guide. Below are some highlights from that document.

This is a sample of their improved branding:

Trustworthy Image

A solid, professional look-and-feel to the organization with appropriate branding and marketing systems for immediate recognition of what the company does and who it is for.

This refresh helps build confidence in the company so that potential donors are more likely to trust that their hard-earned money is going to the right place.

KEY TAKEAWAY

Whether your potential customer know it or not, one of the overarching things they’re looking for in a brand is trust. A poor company image erodes that trust.

Website in Disarray

With outdated systems, files, and interface, their website did not presented in a way that encouraged interaction, supported their program, or represented their company in any real and meaningful way.

Here are a couple images of that website:

System Overhaul

A complete overhaul of their website and systems—utilizing the new branding, creating a marketable presentation for donors, and encourage future sponsorship.

The new site is mobile-friendly, responsive, and creates a very meaningful impact on their non-profit.

Here are a few images of the new website:

A Website that Fuels Their Passion

The website became a resource for all people involved with Children’s Heaven—donors, staff, and hired help—dramatically increasing donor participation, funding, and employee effectiveness.

More importantly, the website truly reflected the incredible work being done at Children’s Heaven, and helped impress upon the world how important their dedication continues to be.

KEY TAKEAWAY

Your website can be the hardest working member of your team—going 24/7 to improve your bottom line.

Is your current website doing everything it could be?

Disorganized Donation System

Sponsors paid across several platforms without the ability to track, organize, and analyze information. Cash donations were occasionally misplaced or stolen without anyone noticing until it was beyond too late.

Online Donations

Designed an online system which integrates with their website and allows for simple sign-up, payments, tracking, account updates, and more, for the company and its donors.

This system went beyond donations and aided in tracking their overall accounting activities.

On the Level

This payment system saves the company time, further legitimizes their donations, and provides for effective and efficient accounting.

The overall increase in revenue has helped expand the program extensively, meaning more marginalized young girls are able to be supported and cared for, and more support services have been added.

KEY TAKEAWAY

Be sure that the channels for brining funding into your organization are built properly, and set to be wide open.

Disorganized Internal Systems

The company infrastructure was in extreme disarray. The owners had a deep passion for helping children, but very little time to spend building the business after caring for over 40 girls nonstop.

They had no proper record keeping, and were unsure of how many donors they had, which girls were/were not sponsored, where funding was going, accuracy of contact information for donors, and other system-wide issues.

Work On the Business

There’s no clever way around it: work on the internal systems needed to happen. Orlof’s worked with the organization to generate a complete list of donors with their chosen donees, establish a cloud-based storage center for their record keeping and updating, as well as automatically recording financial transactions and recurring donations.

Organization is Key

A company which can communicate, across the globe, with live file sharing, live updating, and streamlined bookkeeping—increasing the effectiveness of their entire organization amidst large time zone differences and language barriers.

KEY TAKEAWAY

You cannot simply work in your business and expect success: you must work on your business, too.
